Half Way Point

A somewhat overdue post...but 173km run, 78km cycled, over £3,000 raised and I've reached the half way point of 250km. I have been absolutely staggered at the response from everyone - sorry for not replying personally to each person who donated, but please know that it both means a lot and does a lot.

After nearly a month of dodging manic Italian drivers and jogging through a protest under the Arc de Triomphe, I am now back in the UK and hoping to organise some more social runs as Christmas crawls closer, so if you're up for a few k let me know...

Rundown to Christmas

A few of you may know that earlier this year my dad was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's, which affects around 5% of people who have the disease. Many know that Alzheimer's is a progressive disease of the brain, causing loss of memory, but it also causes loss of coordination, speech and personality to name a few. This year, 1 in 3 people born in the UK will develop some form of dementia at some point, and currently there is no cure. I have decided to run 500km, with a bit of cycling to make up some miles, between my birthday (25th October) and Christmas - 62 days, averaging just under 57km a week - to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK. I'll be posting regular updates here along with a running tally of my kilometers on Strava so you can see how I'm doing. 100k!

First 100k done in the first 10 days! 80 of which was running - I finished it off with a (admittedly very slow) 15km yesterday morning, all along the beach front through Bari. Safe to say I am taking today off running and will be recuperating well with no small amount of gelato...
